Junior Development
Junior Development Program comprises four squads:
  • Junior Piranhas
  • Piranhas
  • Junior Marlins
  • Marlins
The program has been designed to provide opportunities for young athletes to develop the essential skills for successfully competing in swimming and surf sports.  The Junior Piranhas squad is the introductory level of the Junior Development Squad program.  It is a transitional squad between learn to swim and squad training.  The Marlins squad is the finishing level from which swimmers can advance to the High Performance Development squad with the essential skills and fitness for high level competition.  All squads in the program will focus on the development of efficient and balanced strokes; streamlining; starts; turns; finishes; as well as the fitness and confidence to compete successfully at the athlete's chosen level.  The introduction of dry land stretching is incorporated at this level.  The swimmers will also develop an understanding of squad equipment such as pull-bouys and paddles.

All swimmers have either advanced from the KAC Swim School or they have been assessed by our coaches as ready to join the program.

The minimum requirement for admission to the Junior Piranhas is:
  • The ability to maintain correct technique in Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, for 50/25/25 mts
