Sunshine Coast FC, based at Stockland Park was founded in 2007 specifically to compete in the new Hyundai Queensland State League to provide a high level of football as a direct pathway to the A League. In the 5 years of competition, the Club's senior men's team, known as the "Fire" had won 3 Premierships, 4 Championships, the Interstate Challenge Cup and the 2010 "Advance Sports, Sunshine Coast Team of the Year".
In 2013 the Queensland State League competition has been replaced by Football Federation Australia's National Premier Leagues and Sunshine Coast Fire is a foundation club in this national league. The competition exists to provide a talented player pathway for identified talented football players to progress to national and international competition standards.
The 12 teams in the Queensland Conference are based between Cairns in the north and Gold Coast in the South. Male and female teams from U12 through to U18 compete in South East Queensland from Gympie in the north, Gold Coast in the south and west to Toowoomba.
The Club is also involved with providing opportunity for local football players to access international opportunities through its links with international contacts in Japan and Oceania.
The Club has also forged a links with the local community through initiatives and partnerships including close ties with the Kawana Waters State College Football Excellence Program, delivering the IGA Goals 4 Kids programs to schools in the Sunshine Coast Region and Academy programs for young players wanting to improve their football skills.
